Welcome to the new and improved GamerDay, a simple source to the best games you should see.
The much anticipated game from Electronic Arts, Spore which is set to release this September, just hit a major milestone with 250,000 creatures created in no less than 24 hours using the interactive creature builder released by EA on June 17.
Spore has been a hotly anticipated game since it was announced so many years ago. The creator of the Sims games, Will Wright promises Spore to be a fun filled great game. Although the game itself does not come out until September 7th of this year, as of June 17 you can play the Spore Creature Creator.
You can download the trial of the game demo at Spores official website. The game lets you create weird fantastical creatures, as well as make them do dances pose in videos, all of which can be uploaded to the internet to YouTube directly.
However, as Wired News reports, some gamers have created Creatures that are in obscure positions, some making obscene gestures or posing with oversized genitalia. These creatures, dubbed 'Sporn', are being pulled down off the servers by EA. Electronic Arts said, “Whether it’s modeling clay, dolls or crayons, a small number of people can be counted on to use it for something inappropriate.”
At the time of this writing, about 782,000 creatures have been posted on Spore.com. This figure does not take into account the countless more that have been created and not uploaded. GameSpot reports that this translates into more than two creatures a second uploaded.
This overwhelming success of a piece of software that is no less than a demo, and is a small fraction of the whole Spore game that is yet to be released.
