A resent study found that 72% of people living in the United States say that they have played video games, and over half of them have played them online. The research also concluded that most people play online using a PC than a console.
Back in 2006, it was found that 64% of people played video games in the United States alone. Now in 2008 that number is now up 8 points as more and more Americans come under the gaming industry's mighty spell. In fact, the video gaming industry has been doing very well lately. It's experienced three times the sales from 1996, and thats number increases every day.
As PCworld reports that the study by NDP Group found that the Xbox 360 unsurprisingly is the most used online console, with half of its users playing online.
The study also proved a well known in online gaming. It found that 25% of the online games played are done by 2-12 year olds; and 18-24 year olds are only 10%. I guess this is why we have an obsessively high n0ob population. Although, this number could be because 2-12 year olds (or their parents) were the only ones to submit to the study, I seriously doubt that the number of 18-24 year olds is that low. But, it's their study, I'm just making guesses.
Other interesting numbers come from the ESA, which found that sixty-seven percent of heads of households play computer and video games and that the average game player is 33 years old and has been playing games for 12 years.
